The importance of ‘telomere length” is the latest consideration when it comes to slowing aging. A telomere is a repeating sequence of DNA at the end of a chromosome. As we grow older our telomere length shortens each time our cells replicate. Eventually the telomere is so short it can no longer divide and replicate and so our cells die. Cell death equates to premature aging and poor health. The key is to keep our telomere length long through nutrition and exercise. Exercising regularly helps preserve telomere length and keeps cells younger for longer.
